PRE/TEXT: Editorial and Submission Policy
Editorial Policy:
 | P/T Barnone is interested in the best and most provocative manuscripts in the area of Rhetorical Theory (broadly conceived). It would be best before submitting a manuscript to read very carefully several of the issues, or to read the retrospective to and articles in the book PRE/TEXT: The First Decade. Pittsburgh: U of Pittsburgh P, 1993. |
At least, half of the issues are devoted to Special Issues that are, for the most part, Guest Edited.
PRE/TEXT appears four times a year--or as lately double issues or single volumes--during the Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter quarters. P/T is nortorious for being behind schedule, though its contents are regularly read as being far ahead of the real calendar date!
Submission Policy:
Please: Before submitting manuscripts, the prospective contributor(s) should contact the editor and find out the status of backlogs, his interest in the topic and the way it is dealt with, etc. The Editor will not be responsible for manuscripts sent without his initial approval.
Manuscripts must be submitted in triplicate with SASE. (Again, the editor will not be responsible for manuscripts otherwise sent.) Along with a snail mail address, please send your e-mail address. If no e-mail address is available, then include a SASPostcard to send as acknowledgment of receipt of manuscript.
Each manuscript will be read by at least three readers. It normally takes 3-4 months to read manuscripts and report back to the author. Acceptance is always contingent on positive (or rather "mixed") outside readings, the editor's reading, and availability of space.
The acceptance rate is one in four.
