As we near the time for the 1996 CCCC, one of the concerns on a number of our
minds is the conference itself, which has undergone a number of significant structural changes in
the last few years. One of these, as you will note in Cynthia Haynes' post below, involves shifting
from the traditional 90-minute, 3-4 paper format to a panel format where 6-15 presenters have the
same amount of time. While this presents some advantages, it also raises the question of the
usefulness of the CCCC in general. At the same time that the PTCs began this discussion, a
similar thread began on RhetNet. The two lists, rather than competing for posts, have decided to
pool efforts to explore this topic further. Below, you will find the discussion as it has existed thus
