The available material for the PTIssues Archives is immense; and yet, we will keep it to a bare minimum. At present, we are sifting through the files so as to determine what we think is of special value to include here. (If you have participated in a discussion on the list PTIssues and would like to see that conversation archived here, then, please drop us a note.) Return in a few months and we will perhaps have added more links. --vjv.

Jake Baker

On February 5th, 1995, there began a discussion concerning University of Michigan sophomore Jake Baker and issues surrounding electronic usenet groups and freedom of expression. Below are two links which will connect you with that sizable, often heated, exchange.

To Read or Not to Read

In January of 1996, a discussion began on PTIssues concerning the recent format shifts at the annual CCCConvention. For a profession which prides itself on teaching the essay, rhetorical strategies, and emphasizes presentation, the shift from a traditional 3-4 speaker session to more forums and poster sessions strikes some as counter-intuitive. This thread was introduced simultaneously to PTIssues and Rhetnet. Below is a link that will take you to the PTIssues thread of discussion.

The Death of Bill Burroughs

In July and August of 1997, a discussion began on an article by Lynda Haas on Reinvw and, when there was a Net announcement of the Death of William S. Burroughs, eventually spilled over into PTissues. Below are the links that will take you to the shift in the discussion to Bill's passing.
